| Untangle the sling, hold it in front of you with the label pointing down as shown. | Put it over your head as if you were putting on a vest. You should have the label on your back and a cross of fabric at the front. |
| Slip the fabric off your left shoulder. Spread the fabric on your right shoulder out and down, then pull back up on itself to form a pouch. | Carefully lie your baby in the pouch as shown and pull the fabric round them, ensuring they have space around their nose and mouth. |
| Now slip the fabric back up onto your left shoulder and pull it round to support your baby. | Pull the fabric through the rings to tighten it for a secure and snug fit. In this position a young baby will usually turn their head to the side, especially when they fall asleep. This allows them to breathe easily and you can pull the fabric on one side up to support the back of their head. |
| Optional Step: If you wish you can tie the ends of fabric in a single or double knot to keep them out of the way. This is particularly helpful if you are petite. | Once in, this carrying position should be very secure for your baby and hands free for you. It is normal for them to look a little squished, this is a very natural position for a newborn and most babies are very happy like this! |
